Microweb browser 2.0 for DOS just released

Browsing the web in DOS was never so GIFfy, snappy and awesome!

Amazing! The 'new' web browser for MS-DOS just got newer, GIFier and better! Here's a quick review of Microweb running on a 286 and you can see how performant it is. And yes, it still works on an 8088 with no issues!

Here are all the new features:

  • GIF images support!

  • Support for more video modes, including monochrome and colour modes (VGA & EGA!)

  • PNG and JPEG dimensions are loaded but not the content

  • Improved font rendering and better Unicode support for accented characters

  • More HTML tag support including tables and forms

  • Can now leverage EMS memory (if available) for larger pages and images
